Our Principles

Playing Fair & Safe

  • The organizers reserve the right to make final decisions regarding the tournament schedule. Changes, if any, will be communicated in advance.
  • Decisions made by match officials on all matters are final and not subject to dispute.
  • The tournament will be conducted in accordance with international badminton regulations. Any specific rule modifications or exceptions will be clearly communicated prior to the commencement of matches.
  • All matches in the tournament — including league rounds, quarterfinals, semifinals, and the grand finals — will follow a single set of 30 points format. Only for the grand finals, teams have the option to play a best-of-three format (21 points per set) if both teams mutually agree prior to the start of the match.
  • At the end of each match, both team captains and the umpire must sign the score sheet. The umpire is then responsible for submitting the signed score sheet along with the used shuttle(s) to the match desk for official recording.
  • The top team from each group will progress to the quarterfinals based on the league results.

Our Diamond Sponsors

  • Before the Match
    1. A shuttle toss will determine which side chooses to serve/receive first or selects the side of the court.
    2. The side that loses the toss shall exercise the remaining choice.
  • A point is scored on every serve (rally point scoring system)
  • The side that wins the rally earns a point and will serve next.
  • At the start of the game and when the score is even, the server serves from the right service court.
  • When the score is odd, the serve is made from the left service court.
  • If the serving side wins a rally, the same server continues from the alternate service court.
  • If the receiving side wins a rally, they gain a point and become the new serving side.
  • Both server and receiver must stand within diagonally opposite service courts and must not touch the boundary lines during service.
  • The serve must be delivered diagonally, landing within the correct service court on the opposite side.
  • A serve that touches the net and still lands in the correct service area is considered legal (not a fault).
  • Players do not switch service courts unless they have scored a point while serving.
  • The serve must be delivered with an underhand stroke, with the racket contacting the shuttle below the waist.
  • If the shuttle lands on the boundary line, it is considered in and the point is awarded accordingly.

  • The Match Referee holds overall authority for the tournament. All decisions made by the Match Referee shall be final and binding.
  • Upon assignment, the umpire is responsible for managing the match, court, and surrounding area. Umpires are required to report directly to the Match Referee and ensure that matches are conducted in accordance with tournament rules.
  • As part of a fair and collaborative tournament environment, each team is expected to contribute to umpiring duties for matches within their respective groups or pools.

  • Respect: Show respect to opponents, partners, officials (umpires, line judges), and spectators at all times.
  • Fair Play: Compete fairly and honestly. Deliberate distractions, attempts to deceive officials, or any form of cheating are unacceptable.
  • Language & Temper: Refrain from using offensive language or gestures. Maintain control of your emotions; aggressive behavior or outbursts will not be tolerated.
  • Umpire's Authority: Accept the umpire's decisions graciously. If you have a query, approach the umpire respectfully and calmly at an appropriate time.
  • Punctuality: Be on time for your scheduled matches. Delays can impact the entire tournament schedule.
  • Handshakes: It is customary to shake hands with opponents and the umpire before and after the match.
  • Entering/Leaving Court: Do not walk onto or behind a court while a rally is in progress. Wait for a break in play.

  • Attire - General: All players are expected to wear appropriate sportswear suitable for badminton.
  • Shoes: Non-marking court shoes are mandatory. Players without appropriate footwear may not be permitted to play.
  • Tops: T-shirts or sports jerseys are recommended. Sleeveless sports tops are also acceptable.
  • Bottoms: Sports shorts, skirts, or leggings are appropriate.
  • Offensive or inappropriate clothing or slogans are not permitted.
  • Doubles partners are encouraged, but not required, to wear matching or coordinated attire to foster team spirit.

  • The organizers reserve the right to ask a player to change if their attire is deemed inappropriate, unsafe, or not in the spirit of the competition.

Our Gold Sponsors

  • Participants are requested to use shuttlecocks responsibly. Shuttlecocks should not be replaced for minor wear, such as a single mishit or slightly bent feathers. Replacements should only be made when the shuttlecock is clearly unplayable.
  • Agree on Change: If a shuttlecock is damaged during a rally, all players involved in the match must mutually agree on whether a replacement is necessary. In the event of a disagreement, umpires decision will be final.
  • The umpire for the match should collect the shuttles for the match along with the score sheet
  • After each match the used shuttles to be returned along with the score sheet.

  • Each game will consist of a single set played to 30 points.
  • If the score reaches 29–29, the team that scores the 30th point first will be declared the winner of the game. (No requirement to win by 2 points)
  • Teams will switch courts when either side reaches 15 points during the game.
  • League match winners will be determined after all group stage matches are completed.
  • In cases where two or more teams in a group have equal wins or match points, and the number of qualifying spots is limited, advancement to the next round will be based on: Total points scored by each team, and Total points scored against each team. (i.e., point difference will be used to determine the ranking)
  • In the event of a close call where both teams cannot reach an agreement, the point will be replayed to maintain fairness. No arguments or disputes will be entertained.

Our Silver Sponsors

  • Missed Serve: The server completely misses the shuttlecock when attempting to serve.
  • Incorrect Receiver: The shuttlecock is returned by the server’s partner instead of the designated receiver during a serve.
  • Out of Bounds: The shuttlecock lands outside the boundary lines or makes contact with the wall, ceiling, or any permanent fixture.
  • Player Interference: The shuttlecock touches a player’s body or clothing or a player makes contact with the net while the shuttlecock is in play.
  • Illegal Hit: The shuttlecock is not struck cleanly (e.g. it rests on the racket strings or is carried before being hit) or A player hits the shuttlecock twice before it crosses the net.
  • Double Contact by Team: Both players on the same team strike the shuttlecock simultaneously. (Note: It is not a fault if their rackets touch or clash, provided only one player makes contact with the shuttlecock.)

  • Respect: All members and guests are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and courteous manner at all times. Uphold the spirit of fair play, honesty, and respect for opponents, officials, and fellow players. Any form of harassment, discrimination, or unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated.

  • Wait for a point to be completed before crossing behind a court where a game is in progress.
  • Retrieve your shuttlecocks promptly and return any stray shuttles to adjacent courts politely.
  • Call out scores clearly before serving.
  • If there's a dispute over a line call, play a 'let' if an agreement cannot be reached amicably.
  • Ensure appropriate non-marking court shoes are worn at all times.
  • Follow rotation to ensure everyone gets a chance to play.
  • There might be waiting times for courts; be patient and wait for your turn.
  • Try to play with different people to make the social more engaging and to play against various styles.
  • Players who have played should come off court, allowing waiting players to join. Priority will be given to those waiting to play.
  • Ensure your opponent is ready before you serve. Serve underhand and below your waist.
  • Avoid giving unsolicited advice during a game. No coaching during play.

  • Be aware of your surroundings and other players to avoid collisions.
  • Warm-up properly before playing and cool-down afterwards to prevent injuries.
  • Report any injuries or facility hazards to the stadium reception immediately.
  • Do not play if you are feeling unwell or have an injury that could be aggravated.

  • Use Until Damaged: Shuttlecocks should be used until they are significantly damaged and their flight is noticeably affected. Minor feather damage that doesn't drastically alter the shuttle's trajectory is acceptable.
  • Avoid Premature Changes: Don't change shuttlecocks unnecessarily, such as after a single bad shot or if only one or two feathers are slightly bent. This wastes shuttles. Shuttles are very expensive.
  • Agree on Change: If a shuttlecock is damaged during a rally, players involved in that game should agree whether it needs to be changed. If there's disagreement, please let Arun or Sheron know about it.

  • Any grievances or disputes should be raised with a club official in a calm and respectful manner. The club committee will address concerns fairly and promptly.
